    Default Facial swelling after IPL

I have had 2 IPLs and each time my face/skin on face swells up significantly for about 4-5 days. This is most evident around my cheeks directly under my eyes. My doctor recommended applying ice to the area to help keep the swelling down, but this has not helped.
Does anybody else have this experience?
    Thank you.

I had my first ipl on Tuesday and yes I had swelling on my cheeks and uder my eyes. It is worse when I wake up in the morning and goes down some over the day. The next morning, same thing, swollen again. Sleeping on several pillows seems to help keep the swelling down a little. I just used cold compresses rather than ice. It's been a while since your treatment. How does your skin look now?

    Default swelling

I haven't had IPL but I have had several vbeams. The last was this past Tuesday and I am still somewhat swollen. On wed. morning my face and eyes were so swollen I could not get my contacts in. I think some people are just more prone to swelling - I puff up every time no matter how much ice I use.

    Hi mate..

I had some really bad swelling after my last IPL. Ive normally got a skinny face, but the settings of my last IPL were too high... My face was really bad for about 5 days... Then it goes down...

    Take care

I don't understand hearing about swelling after IPL treatments. I just
had my 8th on Tuesday... my face has never been swollen afterwords.
Is the setting too high or is the doc adhering to sensitive skin procedures?

    Default Swelling afret IPL

I wanted to give an update. I had another IPL and this time had no swelling at all. After discussing this with my doctor, I realize that the difference is in the amount of sun exposure I had prior to IPL. The first 2 times I was exposed to the sun much more than this time. I wasn't really tan, but did have a few days hiking prior to the procedures. This time I had not been in the sun at all prior to IPL, therefore no swelling.
