Default Took Accutane Yrs ago for acne-should I now take for Rosacea

    Hi,
question for anyone who has had a similar experience as myself. I took Accutane when I was in High School for a severe case of acne. Now about 12 years later I have developed the redness and flushing of rosacea, however no p&p's. I asked one of the derm's that I have seen if it might be helpful for me to go on low dose accutane to slow down the rosacea. Inquiring to the derm that maybe the effects of the accutane I took years ago is wearing off. She said that since I have sensitive skin(have needed a moisterizer since taking accutane years ago) already that accutane would only worsen my problem. What do you guys think? Thanks

You are very lucky that you got an acne reprieve with Accutane for 12 years. Mine only lasted about 18 months. As for using it now, I would probably start with milder measures since you have no p&p. If you decide to have Intense Pulsed Light treatment for flushing, you have to wait 6 months after quitting Accutane. This link might be helpful:

Thanks Irishgenes! I've been kinda leaning towards the more milder approach. I'm currently taking 20MG Doxy BID and trying to avoid obvious triggers. I may look into Clonidine to get me through stressful work days without crazy flushing. I'm not yet sold on IPL. I'll wait a few years on that until they better the technology.

    Thanks again!

Be sure you stop the doxy if you start the Accutane! You are not supposed to mix them together. I am using the low-dose doxy myself; it is very good for preventing p&p.
