Default Please read this first / Forum layout

So far I have emailed 7 or so people about this forum, Before the forum goes public there needs to be some moderators and also decide the policies and layout (what sub-forums to have).

If you have any feedback then please post it below as it gets a lot harder to change things about this forum after it becomes public.

    --EDIT--
    I have now enabed avatars

I think the forum is a great idea - it should hopefully be a lot easier to manage and navigate than the email list! Obviously it's hard to pick what sub-forums to have because there will always be some overlap. But it seems to me that the searching for information would be easier if the treatments were divided up, so you don't have page through a lot of "which cleanser should I use" in order to learn about lasers, and vice versa.

Occular Rosacea seems to have a lot of its own concerns (which liquid tears, what if any treatments are available for eyes, etc.), so I think it would benefit from its own section. And since it seems a lot of people are struggling with both seb derm and rosacea, maybe a separate seb derm section would be helpful.

So I would suggest the following sub-forums:

    --Cleansers / Moisturizers / Sunscreens

--Topical Treatments (could divide this into Prescription and Over the Counter)

    --Laser / IPL Treatments

--Pills / Supplements (could divide this into Prescription and Over-the-Counter)

    --Occular Rosacea

    --Seborrheic Dermatitis

Those don't cover everything, but I think they'd be helpful categories. I also like having the "Research and new medical journal articles" section - clinical trial information could be included there also.

Generally people stick to one sub-forum and don't venture outside of it. You can see this with the ESFB Channel forum there is a section for Alternative Medecine and Prescription Drugs people don't really use them and also tend to post duplicate posts there and in the main fourm blushing or rosacea. That is why I want to avoid lots of sections, there should be as few as possible. The main forum is the rosacea one and the others are there so important information does not get lost quickly.

    sub-forums that I might add:
    -Over the counter skincare products
-Co existing conditions (Seb derm, acne, KP)

    does this sound good??

All the treatments should go into the general->rosacea forum and I think there is too much of an overlap for occular and/or phymatous rosacea to have a sepearte forum from the general rosacea forum, I am still undecided about that.

Another sub forum that I am thinking of adding is:
    Introductions / Journals / Regimines

    Feedback welcome.

I agree with RosyGlow that there should be a few more subforums..

I think there should be at least sections for:

    - IPL

    - Oral Antibiotics

    - Topical Anything

    - Seb Derm

With the amount of people that will join this forum, you can not have all postings in one forum or you'll never catch up on the reading. As well, moderators should be moving postings that are in the wrong forum.

    Good job so far.

this forum really rocks. i also like layout/colors.

just one question: where can we ask forum specific questions? i guess "announcements" isn't the right place?

    Hello,

Can we have a section to discuss diet and one for alternative treatment (e.g., non-medical/traditional) approaches?

People think about both of these subjects, so why not give them a home here?

I think people will know more or less what to find under the heading "Diet"

and under the heading "Alternative Treatments".

    Thanks!

BTW, if I haven't got this wrong, the first "announcements" on the select a forum menu doesn't go anywhere and "general" doesn't go anywhere. Only the 2nd "announcements" goes to a page.

Maybe we can have one "announcements" and do away with "general".
