yeah, I'll wait for your later post on the foundation. I use clinique. I use the kind that is not supposed to clog your pores (non comedginic) but sometimes that way overdries my face. I've never been able to use moisturizer, even the good stuff you can buy at department stores. It just breaks my face out. I've been reading stuff on emu oil today. Have you ever tried that?

I use Revlon New Complextion Make up in Ivory Beige. It does alright.

I bought over a $100 worth of Clinique stuff a few years ago... it was crap for me. Horrible! Make up and cleansers.

I haven't done the emu oil thing. I'll have to go read about it.

I've read here where some people tried that bare escentuals mineral make up and liked it. I bought some awhile back and it made my face itch. Seems like the only makeup I can wear is Clinique or Neutrogena. I'm seriously thinking about the emu oil. Since I cant wear any other moisurizer I was thinking about trying it.

    Hi Kelly,

I am here in Plano.......do you know of any good dermatologists in
the area ? I have been to 3 or 4 and not satisfied with any of
them. Same old thing.......metrogel, sulfur wash, $2500 of IPL,
minocycline. None of them seem to know anything about rosacea and
all spend less then 2 minutes with you per visit. Thanks.

    Hi Ronnie,

I'm going to one over in Southlake. She's not on my insurance, and I wasn't very happy at first, but she has really pushed through this with me. Actually, if you search through, you'll see my trials and tribulations.

Her name is Dr. Angela Bowers. Here's her number: 817-251-6500

She is difficult to get in to see. I first saw her other Dr. (Aranda). She wasn't bad, but seems new. And Dr. Bowers doesn't have a WHOLE lot of experience with rosacea, I believe, but she is willing to listen.

    Hope that helps!

    Default Dermatologists in Houston???

Does anyone know of a good dermatologist in Houston that specializes in Rosacea? My current dermatologist will only spend about 2 minutes on the topic and write a script for Metrogel 1% and Doxy. She said this is about the only treatment (except lasers for the redness) and seemed to dismiss my questions. I don't know if this is just a "mundane" topic for dermatologists, if she does not know much about the condition, or if she just has really bad bedside manner. Any connections with a good rosacea specialist would be greatly appreciated...

    A little about me...

My face started getting red (flushing) about 5 years ago (although first noticed "red" on my chin in my wedding photos 10 years ago. I did not pay much attention to it, but it progressively got worse over time. Coffee/cokes really set of the flushing. I also had some very minor pustules (randomly). Last summer, 2005, I did some yard work and had a major breakout (pustules) over my cheeks and forehead. But it cleared up in about 2 days. I went a dermatologist (diff than referenced above) and he dismissed it, saying it did not sound like a major problem and to come back if it happend again (I did not like him). Since then, it seems that I became more sensitive to heat. I cannot go to the beach or pool, or do any yardwork without a major breakout. I am very active outdoors and love to take my daughter to the beach and pool. I am very concerned that I will not be able to enjoy the "fun things in life" if I cannot get control of my rosacea.

I have a long family history of skin problems. Mom, Dad and maternal grandmother, and uncle all have Rosacea. But they did not get it until later in life (>50). Also, brother has psoriasis (bad).

I just started the Metrogel 2 weeks ago and started the Doxy today (7/24). Hopefully this works. I had a major breakout on Sat after some yardwork and it has not gone away.

    Thanks
    V
