Default Recommend trying a DAO supplement

Iíve been battling this for years and have always approached it by targeting the skin irritant or pathogen(s). It would get better then after a few weeks start to come back. Well long story short it turns out my blood histamine level is super high, above normal range. Antihistamines didnít improve the rash. I started taking a DAO supplement which is an enzyme that actually breaks down the histamine in the gut and thereby reduces the amount that reaches your blood. After around 2 weeks of taking this enzyme thereís been at least a 50% reduction of rash symptoms and continuing to improveóeven without all the creams and medications I was using daily. Iím taking 6 DAO caps per day as directed on the bottle and avoid high histamine foods especially alcohol. Just want to throw this out there for anyone else in case it might help.

Chronic red spots, bumps, blisters, bumps with edema and weeping, skin itched and was tender, broke and bled easily and took forever to heal. Small bump would get scratched and turn into a big inflamed spot and take forever to go away. Rice like plugs everywhere in pores, lots of inflammation etc.

I have tried a DAO supplement but with no benefit. The supplement that helped me was Integrative Therapeutics Similase GFCF which is designed to help digest small amounts of gluten and dairy.

Yeah, this is kind of a complicated issue. High histamine can be caused by DAO deficiency or methylation issues, thereís also a disorder called Mast Cell Activation (MCAD). Apparently these conditions are associated with chronic skin issues and often involve addressing something in the gut.

Did you have any problems with digestion before ? bloated stomach or anything like that ? or did you just take a shot in the dark in taking it.

Yes, trying to address fatigue and brain fog etc., not so much digestive issues. I did some blood tests and my histamine is well over the normal range while a lot of vitamins and protein levels are low. Initially I did a ďmethylationĒ regimen for it but that didnít help. So now Iím trying the DAO.
