Default DC area: anyone been treated by the Washington Institute of Derm. Laser Surgery?

    Hello,

I could not find any recent and specific recommendations for IPL/Laser in the Washington, DC area.

Five years ago, I had a series of IPLs at the Center for Laser Surgery (on New Mexico Ave.). It helped a little (my cheek area, not so much my nose unfortunately). The staff was nice and competent enough but I did not get the impression that they were true experts on rosacea. They were just using some standard procedures, i felt.

So this time, I'd like to go to someone who really understands all possible treatments and can tailor one to my own case. (In particular, I want to know if IPL could help with my nose that is usually rosy/slightly red and can easily get red/flushed after some triggers like cold/heat, wind, etc. Have read different opinions on this forum about this.)

I could get an appointment with the Washington Institute of Derm. Laser Surgery and see how thorough a treatment they offer but the first consultation is very expensive (at least $350 - probably more by now - and so are the treatments) so I want to make sure they are really worth it before I go. Any information about them would be much appreciated.

I'm also willing to go to an individual practitioner (derm.) that offers IPL/laser so any referral would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

    C.

    Hi Claire,
I'm from Washington, DC. I have an appointment in March to discuss IPL/laser with Dr. Pantea Tamjidi at the Tamjidi Skin Institute, the name of her derm practice. She's a very nice, warm MD, but I don't have any information about her abilities on this issue. Her office is in one of the big medical buildings on Wisconsin Ave in Friendship Heights. There's also a Dr. DiSimone, who is with DermAssociates, with offices in Silver Spring and Rockville. She is the practice's laser specialist. Again, I just have the name, and have not used her for any specific work. You can goggle the names of both practices for more information or shoot me a DM. Hope this helps.
