rosacea is bad enough but then add pitted scars from lasers and its a nightmare

I just dont know what to do anymore. I was told to get lasers done for my rosacea and now my skin is scarred with pitted indentations plus I have a horrible orange peel. Now what? Doctor's say that lasers wont cause this then why come there is a group full of people that are damaged by lasers. I spent thousands of dollars just to make my face look worse. I am so depressed. One doctor tells me to get frazel laser done. Ha I dont think so. Another doctor gives me retina a to put on my rosacea. I really do give up on doctors.

That's correct.
I have never heard or read any reliable report of people being damaged by laser when performed by a experienced medical doctor.

Further to your previous posts, you went to a Spa, and had your treatments done by unqualified staff.
I am very sorry that you have to go through this, but I think it is not fair to write such general statements about lasers.
I also can't follow your logic why you would want to give up on 'doctors', when it wasn't any doctor who has caused your scarring?

Anyway, my recommendation would be - do your research and find a reputable dermatologist so he can help you with the damage that the spa has caused.

hi fulloflove, you might well have had the pits and scars there prior to your laser treatments. Acne can leave scars. But you might not have seen them because the scarred area was, among other things, swollen, had acne in it or was disguised by rosacea.

I had nasty acne and nasty rosacea (and then nasty adult chicken pox). I never picked or scratched. But I have some scarring. It hurts me when a facialist or someone says I probably picked (and I want to hurt her back real hard if you get my drift). A tiny case of misogynistic blame the victim is what I see.

I realize my scars, carved into me over a lifetime, are a result of various skin diseases. They were there before the laser ever began to uncover them, before I ever began my home-grown solution, which finally conquered all this crap.

I've had 50 ipls and 3 vbeams over around a decade. I'm certain not one left a permanent mark on my face (I had a bit of bruising from my 2nd vbeam, might have been due to a strange hormonal time. Who can say.)

If your lasering is actually helping you get rid of p&ps and redness, be happy about it. My ugliest left over feature from acne-rosacea is the landscape of distended pores on the sides of my nose and just beyond it. This area was totally messed up (mild term, I mean the f word, actually) by demodex tunneling (think ant farm). I see the pores clearly now that the red is gone.

Yes i went to a spa a couple of times but other times it was with a doctor. I am not making this up. I have been to 6 doctors and one spa. There is a group where people have been damaged by doctors not spas from lasers. Im not saying everyone will be damaged. I am saying what my experience was. Im depressed about it. One of the doctors I went to told me that he stopped doing IPL treatments because it could cause fat loss. If you want to know that doctors name I will give it to you. I have a friend that had fat loss from it and then she had to get fat grafting done. Do what you want to do, Im not telling anyone not to get lasers done. I just want to see if anyone can help me with my skin.
I started laser treatments back in around 2000 and had IPL and v-beam. I didnt get damaged until after laser genesis and v-beam perfecta. I have had around 30 treatments or more. I stopped counting. There is another lady on here that just posted yesterday stating that she has pitted scars from v-beam perfecta.
I thought this was a place for support and get help from people not for them to tell you not to write how you are feeling. I have been to so many top qualifying doctors and they have not been able to help me so thats why I give up on them. Also the last doctor I went to put another scar on my face. So yes a doctor did give me a pitted scar. I would never make this up. Do a search on the internet and you will find more people like me that was damaged. Good day

Thanks for responding. These are post that I love to read because it makes me feel like there is hope. One of my pitted scars is around a half inch long and its triangle shape. I got it after my last v-beam perfecta treatment. So do you think that lasers bring up pitted scars from acne when you were younger. I did have acne during my first pregnancy. I just dont know how it could look like this. After my treatments my redness looked better for a day or two but then it came back. Lasers did get rid of some of broken caps and some came back. The last doctor told me she couldnt understand why it wouldnt go away. She said she could do the yag laser but that laser has been known to cause pitted scars and she didnt want to give me anymore scars. So lasers havent really helped me at all. I spent a lot of money and its been around a year since my last treatment and Im too scared and broke to try anymore. Frazel was recommended for my rough texture but frazel can make your rosacea worse the doctor told me. So have you found anything to smooth out your scars? What kind of IPL treatment was it that you got?

People can come up with all sorts of suggestions as to why it might have happened, but I know that it was definitely caused by IPL, and I paid extra for a doctor to carry this out. I have been through hell and back, but have now learnt to accept it. People just seem to want to dismiss the reports of people damaged by lasers and ipl...it must have been this or it could have been that... the reports arn't reliable/anecdotal etc. Thats fine, until it happens to them.

If you have developed scarring as a result of ipl/lasers then there is no way in hell I would have another treatment.

Sorry to be so blunt, but I know exactly what you are going through...you will learn to accept it...if I can, anyone can.

It hurts me when you try to come on here and get help and you have someone attack you. ya know? I agree with you about lasers. I will never let them touch my face again. Im too scared too. When was your last treatment? Have you found anything to help it?

I doubt that many of us would have even contemplated laser if we were not desperate.

I for one do not find these type of posts off-putting.

We all need to be informed (God knows the Dr's/derms at times don't know how to treat

our rosacea!) and we all make our own choices.

Personally this forum has been heaven-sent & I read the posts & take from it what I will,

the rest is up to me!

For larger scars (the chicken pox ones) I got filler (hyaluronic acid) from the derm. It's pretty good. But it is $$$ and needs to be redone at least once a year. I think it's very likely that you had that triangle-shaped scar there already. The acne on that bit of your skin caused it. You didn't see it, because the pimple was there covering it.

Did you read my profile page? There's a whole thing about how I remedied my rosacea. I am clear. Sounds like you have the same problem -- it's NOT broken blood vessels (I always questioned why they were red and not blue, if they were broken) it's demodex mite tunnels. I figured this out just observing my skin and feeling the nighttime crawlies. Laser only kills some demodex. Others take over within a week of laser treatment: they hatch, they burrow.

Laser takes the debris off of your skin, but it's not very effective against mites.
