    Default omg SWOLLEN!!!

I'm on day two after my second laser treatment with candela perfecta. My first treatment 5 weeks ago was set on 7 joules and I was a little puffy for about 2-3 days. I was NOT expecting THIS! Set on 9 joules this time around, my left eye is so swollen I can hardly open it. I will see my derm tomorrow but I wish there was something I could do in the mean time to help reduce the swelling. I've been using ice packs and ibuprofen and an antihistamine. Any advice? Anyone else notice major swelling with higher setting?

    Default swollen

    Hi
The swelling is pretty normal. It will peak on day three and begin to subside after that. I would stay away from cortisone cream- it never helped me with swelling and made me flush. I usually take bromelain twice a day at first then once a day once the swelling goes down a bit.

hang in there it will pass

Hi redgal, I had swelling, too, after Perfecta and it lasted 4 days. I told my derm (I had no swelling with treatment 1 and lots with treatment 2). She didn't think it was a big deal at all. I think it's just a routine thing.

Anyway, with 3rd vbeam I was expecting swelling, I was expecting to stay home all weekend with ice. Instead, I got no swelling at all!

What was the diff? Only thing I did differently was drop all carbs a week before the treatment. Otherwise everything was the same.

Why didn't I swell with vbeam number 1 -- no clue!!

    hi,
i was told not to take ibuprofen as this can affect the healing.I'm also sure was told not to take antihistimines.I did read that these can effect the coagulation process

2nd. Don't take anything until you speak to your derm. Ice on and off and sleeping propped up are best. I had a big long swelling last time, too, and that's what I did. I had NO swelling at all with treatment 3.
