    Default Test for Demodex Mites...

Has anyone ever been tested for demodex mites? Was it a skin scraping? Does a skin scraping leave a scar?

Default Standardised Skin Surface Biopsy (SSSB)

"D. folliculorum was sought in the lesion sites using the non-invasive
method known as the Standardised Skin Surface Biopsy (SSSB)."

i've been tested, and no it doesn't leave any kind of mark or cause any pain or anything. they just gently scrape the skin a little in a few places on your face. then they check for the mites under a microscope.

I am not sure how useful it is to test for demodex. Everybody has them, even non rosaceans.
Additionally, as seen in a study I posted ages ago, the same area tested twice, some hours apart can produce dramatically different results.

What might be more useful is a test to see who is sensitive to the bacteria. Isn't a research company working on this or something similar?

Personally I don't believe demodex are the root cause of rosacea for the majority of people. I think they happily join in the fun when given the opportunity to do so.
