14 day of Rifaximin/Xifaxan. I would like to ask my derm for a RX....you
think it would be worth it ?

Hey there,
I am not sure what to think. There are a few people on the board who have tried rifaximin and said it helped a bit, but the results were not lasting. However, I have read on other forums of people who feel it did help their rosacea and that the results lasted.
Also, from what I understand, it only helps your rosacea if you actually have SIBO and if you test hydrogen positive on a breath test. If you test metane positive, rifaximin does nothing for you.
I am currently reading some stuff by Dr Mark Pimentel. He does not mention rosacea, but is the director of Gastronintestinal Motility Program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Clinic. He says that SIBO can keep re-occuring and that you have to follow a protocol to eliminate it. Not only do you need to take an antibiotic like rifaximin, but that you need to re-regulate the cleansing waves of your intestines (there are drugs to do this), or the bacteria will keep coming back. He also reccomends a low sugar diet while you are trying to get rid of the SIBO.
Rifaximin is not available where I live, so I have been trying other things with mixed results.
If I were you, I would google SIBO and rosacea and do some reading. I wish there was an easy answer.
