Default What Does "P&P" Mean? I see it used here a lot...

What does "P&P" stand for? I am new to this stuff. I was told I have Perioral Rosacea about 2 days ago. I have been told to use Metrogel each evening after I shower and I am to take 100mg of Doxycycl each night for 30 days too. They also gave me Desonate to use for like 1-2 days at a time and no longer than that for "emergency" flare-ups.

What is P&P? If I take cooler showers, don't wash my face and keep hair products, including shampoo out of my face I seem to do better also. Too the point where I don't believe I even need all of this medicine.

I recently got a REALLY BAD case of it after some severely cold weather here and after eating hot sauce on pretty much everything...."Frank's Hot Sauce" a few days in a row and I also drank several beers one night. When I woke up...BAM...I looked horrible. I now know that all of those things are triggers for Rosacea. OUCH! Any feed back is welcome. I am a 32 year old male who works out about 4-5 days a week so I also get read when I work out. Sad...

Also, sun seems to make me better. When I tan or go to the beach I look 100% normal.

    Hi Frank,
I just responded to your question about this in another thread.
It stands for papules and pustules and if you do a search using the search egine below the Rosacea Forum logo you will find lots of info about p&p's.

    Welcome to the RF

    Best wishes,
    Melissa

Thanks! I do have tiny little red bumps on my forehead...for the first time. I used to get red spots not bumps but just redish spots like when you get hot around my eyes. Then last week for the first time ever I got very red around my eyes and forehead with very red dots. Like little pin pricks but with bumps and bright red. They started going away on there own after using Aquafor and lotion for about 1 week but I still went to the Derm. He told me I have roscacea so here I am.

Perioral dermatitis and rosacea are two slightly different things and may need treating separately:
