    Default Osteopathic doctor?

Not sure if this belongs here, so feel free to move it!

Has anyone ever been to an osteopathic doctor (DO)? I was telling a friend today that I am so tired of being bounced from doctor to doctor (derm, allergist, GI, and back to the beginning) and that I am so convinced my skin issues are linked to my stomach issues. I just can't find a doctor who'll look at the whole picture. My internist shuffles me off to a specialist, who really only cares about their "specialty". She recommended a DO.

    I found this website:

    http://www.osteopathic.org/index.cfm?PageID=ost_omed

and actually found a few doctors that are covered under my insurance plan. I think I'm going to check one out and see if they can really look at the "sum" of my body!

    Hi J,
I think it could only help. I know that osteopaths are more homeopathic and whole person oriented and see everything as interrelated and connected as it should be. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

    Best wishes,
    Melissa

PS I moved this thread to the similar and coexisting conditions.

Thanks! I'm going to call for an appointment tomorrow.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but this is kind of what I've been looking for...a doctor who will look at me as a whole and try to piece together my medical mysteries (!) but isn't as "alternative" as a naturopathic or homeopathic doctor. Plus, they can prescribe medicine, do testing, AND it's covered by insurance- big plus!

    I'll keep you posted!
