    Default more green tea chat

as per all the great "reviews" lately, i've been trying to drink more green tea (and bathe in it, and water my plants with it, and wash my car with it......is there anyting it can't do??!!) anyway, i must admit i'm finding it a little boring vs. a fancy coffee with a dozen adjectives from FiveBucks. is there any tricks or recipes you know to "spice" it up a bit? also, are there any brands that are better for you than others (more anti- oxidants?) loose leaves better than bags?

As far as coffee vs. tea it depends on your attitude

I tried green tea as a topical for about 2 weeks and didn't notice any changes but now I'm going to try drinking it, see if there's any results. It tastes soo bland though, I agree.

When I first tried it with tea bags I didn't like it but someone bought me some of the loose leaves from Taiwan and it was really different - really nice. I've also tried green tea (loose leaves) from Japan and I didn't like it so I think you need to try a few different types to find one you like. Some seem to be naturally sweeter and/or smoother than others.

Also, when you brew the tea it is important not to brew for too long because this will bring out a bitter gritty taste. It's also best to have the water at a temperture that is slightly less than boiled (I usually boil it in the kettle and then add a little tap water to bring the temperature down before adding it to the leaves).

I don't know that there's much you can add to spice it up but I sometimes add an artificial sweetner or a little honey. I think it tastes best chilled to make iced tea - with a little sweetner added.

    Hope this helps.

Yep, loose leaf green tea is much better, although it is still an acquired taste. I have grown addicted to the stuff though, no matter how bitter. Afterwards I sometimes use the leaves to put on my face as a coolant and it seems to work OK.

Hey, you can add fresh cut up fruit to it, and let that sit for a while before drinking to give it added flavor. It might help change it up once and a while. Hope this helps!
