Default Low dose accutane and light therapy okay?

    Hi all
I've read a lot of the information on this thread (also the "stickies"-thanks to those who did them) but I still have a few questions. I have phymatous rosacea and am currently taking 10 mg every other day of accutane.

    1. Does low level light therapy work for phymatous/early rhinophyma? Has anyone had any success with light therapy and this rosacea subtype?
    2. Can I use light therapy while taking 10 mg of accutance every other day?
    3. I'm thinking of getting an all red light first and seeing how that goes before going to an infrared red/red combination. Does that make sense?

    Thanks so much,
    Queta

    Default Yes

From what I understand, Accutane is a Vitamin A analogue. The UV spectrum is your problem with photosensitizing exposure. 660nm red light is not in that spectrum. UV is blue light at around 420nm.

The reason you're supposed to stay away from sun light while on certain antibiotics (tetracycline, doxy, etc.; and Accutane) is because Sunlight is white light, which has all spectrums of light. That includes UV.

You should be fine with LLLT on meds/supplements.

Toleraine Soothing Light Facial Fluid for moisturizer. I don't use a special cleanser. Clonidine daily; klonopin sometimes.
BEST and CURRENT TREATMENT I use: Low-Level Red Light Therapy LED array.
Please feel free to PM me with your low-level red light therapy (LLRLT) questions. I'm happy to help if I can.

im also on accutane (10mg per day) & am considering buying a red light therapy device (emitting 660nm)
is red light therapy, in conjunction with accutane definitely a safe option?

Default accutane and red light therapy

    Hello
I have been doing both at once and had no problems. Iowa David had sent me a response to this question and stated that since red light is different than sunlight, it would be okay. I'm not saying it's definitely okay but has been working well for me.
