I started using Finacea too. The first two days i used it, it itched on the parts of my face that I applied it. Now it doesnt have that effect anymore, is this cause the skin has gotten used to it, or isnt it as effective anymore? any ideas?

    pca,
I know what you mean. I love the stuff, altho I haven't used in weeks.
The first time you put it on it stings a little...but then that goes away.
I found it to work so much better then Noritate (metronitazole).

It seems like Finacea just zaps the P&P's right away!

I hope you have continued success with it.
    Good Luck!

If it wasn't for finacea I wouldn't be out enjoying myself half as much.

You havent used in weeks, you got rid of the rosacea
    well enough to stop?

I was doing so well with finacea, but then this morning for
some unknown reason, I flared up totally .. It's been bad
all day, but calmed down in the evening. Have no idea
    what might have triggered it.

How long did you use finacea before you stopped/took a break?
Have you gotten rid of all the background redness?

    Hi pca,

how long have you been on finacea.

I've been on for about 4 months now, I still flare up every few weeks but the spots are nothing like as bad a before.

Hi .. I been using it for 4 days .. To begin with, I thought this
stuff would stop the inflammation (red, burning forehead)
very quickly, since it seems so effective .. But now I have
my doubts, since the inflammation seems to come back,
I cant stop it !! .. So I am going to my doctor tomorrow to
find out what to do next, since my forehead burning redness,
is destroying the skin .. It is already much more tiny wrinkled
    that outside the red areas.

I wonder if some people who use finecea, reach a point
where the cream has been so effective that their
symptoms and inflammation has gone away? I would
like that, but so far it keeps flaring up every other day.

    Hi there,
I found that after a week or so on finacea I had a bit of a setback, but I kept on using it and continued to improve.. best results were after about 2 months. I would recommend sticking with it for a while.

As for skin texture have you considered laser treatments? IPL has made a big difference to my skin texture. I have photo rejuvination as part of my IPL treatment and I think that helps too. My rosacea skin was full of tiny wrinkles which have now more or less gone!!

what other treatments have you tried??
    best wishes

My problem is constant 24/7 red and burning forehead skin, which is causing lotsa small wrinkles and
enlargened pores on the skin.. Also skin cracking up in fine
lines all over, it feels like finacea is totally drying out my skin which
maybe is contributing to this .. Finacea helped stop this, but
only temporally, then it came back worse than before!

I booked a time with a derm clinic and theyt old me to keep
using finacea, until I could see them, which is in 30 days. I only
used it for around 5-6 days now. I am justr going crazy from this
and feel very sad that my skin is being ruined.

I tried two other cremes that irritated my skin. (cortison, metro stuff)

I have ordered Betaine Hydrochlorid, and will start taking it
as soon as it gets here. I was told too low stomach acid causing
overgrowth of Helicobacter bacteria might causing this horrible
inflammation of my forehead skin. (not from the derm, but on
    the net)

You will always have good days and bad days with rosacea.
To avoid re-typing I have been tracking my own progress in my introduction thread:
    http://forum.rosaceagroup.org/viewtopic.php?t=7573

I'm updating the thread at least monthly keeping track of what I am doing, my diet, etc.

I really believe that experimenting, documenting, and researching is the best way to find out what your triggers are and learn to avoid them to control your rosacea.

I am a creature of habit. I eat, drink and do the same thing everyday.
So weeding out possible triggers was getting a little easier for me.

Stick with the finacea as your doctor directed. Finacea is to control the P&P's...not the redness and flushing. No rosacea medicine will help with that. My P&P's are somewhat undercontrol...that's why I stopped the Finacea. If I flare up...I'll use it.

    Good Luck,
    Ann
