Is there an easy way to remove the Soolantra buildup? It works for me. But it stays on my face similar to some moisturizers. I want to remove it gently.

Into week 3 now, think I'm at Day 23. Overall, I see minor improvements, which is good, but progress is slow. Last Thursday I had my first ever flush on the worst area of one side of my face. It didn't last long at all, and I've never flushed in my life before that, so it was a weird experience. It resulted if a group of really angry spots, but to be honest, that small area of my face has been awful for around 8 months now so I'm not sure what to put it down to. Like I say, I see minor improvements overall so I'm trying to stay positive I'll eventually end up at a level I'll be content with.
I am aged sixty five and have had type one Roseacea for around the last ten years. I get redness on my forehead, nose and cheeks, particularly when triggered by a beer or hottish shower. I should say that although I am English, my mother was of Irish origin.
My GP suggested Soolantra. I completed the course of one tube of cream, which I applied once a day at night over a three week period. The side effects that I experienced are slight burning of the areas applied to in the early days and a strange feeling of fatigue at times which may or may not have been caused by the Soolantra.
In my opinion, the Soolantra had zero effect on the flushing, in fact it could have made it worse. If the Soolantra killed off the face mites, can I assume that my flushing is caused by something else?
What I have used in the past with better results is Pine Tar Soap and I shall commence using it again.
I would welcome any comments.
Interesting. I had not really considered food but will monitor. I know that sun is a problem. My Dermatologist recommended Sunsense factor 50.
The Pine Tar soap seems to calm things down but has, shall we say, a unique aroma!
Strangely, neither my brother or sister have Roseacea.
I have been using soolantra for almost four months and I see some improvement but my nose still gets red sometimes.
Just figured I would update. Haven't posted in week and half since I had a flare up and got frustrated. I have since stopped soolantra and went back to weeding things out of my diet. I have stopped drinking coffee, eating sweets, and also have eliminated white breads. I changed my cleansing/ moisturizing routine a little which also seems to be helping. I am washing my face and applying jojoba oil and moisturizer while my face is dripping wet. By doing the moisturizer while my face is wet, it seems to penetrate much better. I'm still a believer in the soolantra but felt a break was in order. My condition seems to need to be hit from a few different angles to improve it. I'm learning diet plays more of a role than I want it to. I think the soolantra worked fast enough for me to see results so that I would be optimistic and stick with other remedies also. In the past if something didn't work overnight or made it worse I stopped using it and figured nothing would ever work. The soolantra gave me just enough hope that I continued to use jojoba oil and cut different foods out for a month and a half now. I normally would never stick with something that long because I wouldn't see results. So I suppose this is long post about how diet change ( think coffee is the biggest) and constant healing of my face with oils and moisturizers has me having some good days this week. As always i have been wrong before and am cautiously optimistic.
Day 30. More of the same as the last update, really. Most of my spots and bumps are coming down or have come down, but the old ones I had before starting are the slowest, but again, I think that's normal. I know a lot of the red and pinkness on my face is hyperpigmentation and will take months to fade, so as long as soolantra can help the newer papules that will appear go down and fade quicker, I consider that a success. My other half, and also my brother (who won his own battle with severe rosacea type 1 through an antimilarial drug) seem to think my skin is looking better, so I'm going by their judgement. I think I've looked in the mirror for longer this past month than the total time before it. Funny, I never really classified myself as a vain before this bad flare up, but I definitely would now.
I'll continue to update each week, I'm hoping things continue to get better, as I struggle to see the progression at times.
My understanding is that Soolantra has never been clinically tested for type one Roseacea, which is flushing only. It could be of course that it has, but for some reason the data has never been released e.g. It was not proven to work to the same level of success as with the papules.
Yeah, I think that's correct. What I meant was the left over acne-scarring like pink marks left by some of the papules after they've gone down, sorry I probably wasn't very clear. I've only flushed once in my life, which was 2 weeks into soolantra, funnily enough, but hopefully it won't be an issue in the future.
It's mainly old papules that I previously tried to treat with azelaic acid before starting soolantra that are the issue, so I'm hoping they'll eventually fade at some point, but who knows.
