Bought soolantra (Rosiver)
Hi guys,
I've had rosacea for 15 years. It's probably type 2. I've tried about anything possible, finacea, elidel, antibiotics, metrogel, metrolotion, etc. Nothing solved my problem completely. The antibiotics had the most effect, but they scrapped my intestines, so I had to stop. These last few years I only use metrolotion once a day.
Anyways, I went to see the dermatologist today to refill my Metrolotion and to my suprise, he told me that there's this new product Soolantra (Rosiver here in Canada) that has given great results to many people. He gave me a prescription and told me to stop Metrolotion for now. I feel so happy and full of hope, as I had read about demodex and even tried tea tree oil (nope, didn't work).
I have read all your posts and just want to add a couple of things that I learned from the pharmacist:
- One 60gr tube is 200$! It's quite expensive, but it should last about 2 months, if not more.
- She told me I should use the equivalent of a small pea in each area that has redness. so one pea for one cheek, one pea for the other, etc. (I think this is too much, because I still had a lot left over, but we'll see.)
- She advised that I start applying the cream only every two days at the beginning. Probably to avoid a lot of redness from the die-off or to check for allergies to the non-medicinal ingredients (I can't remember which reason it was)
- She told me it's very likely that it will take at least 2 or 3 weeks to start seeing results, but to not get discouraged, because this cream works for many people.
So, I read the other posts, got scared, and only applied in areas that I can hide with my hair: forehead and cheekbones on both sides (yes, I'm starting to get bumps there too!)
If everything goes well, I'll start applying to my cheeks, chin and nose in a couple of days.
I don't usually lurk in forums very often, but I'll try to update with my results every now and then.
I wish you all good luck with your treatments.
Soolantra is still working extremely well for me!
Haven't been on the forum for a month because I don't really think about my skin much. Soolantra has stopped any new pustules from coming and my skin barrier is completely healed for the first time in years. I hardly flush now and can get away with alcohol in moderation and saunas. Very very happy with soolantra! I don't require any cream with it anymore because my skin is so soft and moisturized and now I just put a little bit of clinique redness relief cream in the morning with coola matte sunscreen.
