  • Bad Taste in Mouth, White Tongue Coating + Around Mouth, Tonsil Stones

I have a whole bunch of problems I suspect are related. (I also have KPRF but this could be a side point)

Almost immediately after brushing teeth I get a bad taste in my mouth and a white coating on my tongue that smells pretty bad. (Sorry for the gross details)

I find I also have tonsil stones, but I'm not sure if that is related.

Besides the tongue I get a small amount of something on my lips and around my mouth.

Can anyone offer any insight as to what this could be?

    Thanks everybody.

(I'm also currently doing PDL for fairly severe KPRF, which I post somewhere else about.)

It can be candida most likely Google it. Pdl helping you with redness? How many treatments did you have?

      Thanks, I'll look into that.

PDL has been pretty uneventful so far. I've had 2. To be fair the setting was not near strong enough to treat my KPRF I suspect because I had almost no bruising. From the pictures I've seen you need to take a much more serious approach which I will be doing my next treatment.

White tongue is a biofilm. Use toothpaste and mouthwash with Xylitol. Tom's of Maine is the only toothpaste I know of in the US with Xylitol, and Biotene is the only mouthwash with it. Candida looks different than what you described, but look at some photos of "thrush" to see if that's what you have. If you have thrush you should see a doctor.

You could also brush your tongue with a mix of 5% Oil of Oregano and mouthwash or even water. This will knock out a generic biofilm (non-candida) in about 3 days. I think Xylitol is more preventative than a cure for biofilms, but it's so easy to use, and sweet tasting too.

You could also mix Xylitol into Aloe Vera gel to make a nasal spray. This would pass through your sinuses and drain onto the tonsils, which might help with your tonsil stones, which is probably the source of the funny taste. I made a Xylitol-based nasal spray, with 15 ml distilled water, 4% Xylitol, 1% citric acid, 1% sodium bicarbonate, 1% sea salt, and 1.7 mg Aloe Vera (about 10%), poured into an empty Nostrilla bottle with a screw off cap. I was aiming for a pH of about 7.6 but it measured at 8.1, so a touch less bicarb would make this better.

I would be 99% sure it candida/yeast. I have been battling this for over a year but it was hidden from view for many years and missed all the early warning signs. Just my advice and opinion - educate your self. Most doctors don't know much about treating this disease and if left untreated and it gets worse like mine, now a mycosis internal/external. Many reasons but here is a link to my favorite health/holistic podcast. They are free you can listen on line but I down load to my mp3. This is subject seems to be very popular and it is odd they have had 3 shows in Oct. on this subject.
This link has the latest shows on subjects but scroll down as they are not in row/order as I did a site search.

          http://oneradionetwork.com/?s=%22candida%22&x=43&y=9

The latest interview Ann Boroch is excellent for information and they discuss the white tounge. She seems to be more moderate in her opinions and treatments. All the other expert/guests have books or sites with more info. If you google candida there are lots of sites with many different opinions.

I have seen many types of doctors in the last year and none of them had a clue how to treat this yeast/candid. Most gave me steroids & antibiotics or other drugs which can make candida worse and thrive.

It is my opinion and many others that this is gut/body/health related and treating only your skin/mouth is only going to mask the real problem with you immune system.

I'm lucky I found a doctor locally that specialized in treatment. He wrote the book - The Yeast Syndrome: How to Help Your Doctor Identify & Treat the Real Cause of Your Yeast-Related Illness. Which is now almost 30 yr old, but not out dated because regular doctors are not taught very much about this illness and usually mis- diagnose and give you the wrong treatments.

Just trying to help but you have to read and educate yourself. You can be fooled into thinking you are healed and most of the symptoms gone. But it really just hides and goes dormant and comes back over again manifesting in many different symptoms.

Thank you for the great responses everyone.

I've been reading into candida and does seem that it could be very possibly.

I actually saw a nose and throat specialist regarding my tonsil stones and she found nothing wrong, which obviously isn't the case when I'm getting bad breath 10 minutes after floshing and brushing my teeth as well as my other symptoms.

To the person above, I just bought that book. I found a copy for sale on amazon.ca in my province so I went ahead and ordered it. Thank you for the recommendation.

It sounds like you have oral thrush and tonsil stones. Oral thrush would be the white coating you found on your tongue after you brushed your teeth. Oral thrush is known to lead to the development of tonsil stones, as it causes bacteria to build up in the mouth. http://tonsilstoneremoval.org

I have all of this. My tongue coating is supposedly 'geographic tongue', i've never gotten rid of it.

I also have seb derm and fordyce spots on my lips.

Stopping dairy helps with the tonsil stones but as for the rest I have no good solutions.

As been said previously in the thread you probably suffer from tonsil stones.

Well, most doctors and insurance companies will send you to make an medical surgery which is completely obsolete in 90% of the cases.
You can get rid of tonsil stones by gargling, avoid dairy drinks and simply use q-tips. You can read more on tonsilstonesadvisor.com
