"Many dermatologist friends?" Really? Please don't advise people to mix two medications that no one knows their interactions and possibly mask a reaction that may be causing damage unseen until it is too late. The board has many stories of people who have had years of trouble after using steroids and/or hydrocortisone on the advice of "dermatologist" or by personal choice. Do a forum search for yourself. Don't take my word for it. They report thinned skin, overgrowth of a fungus that bloomed after discontinued use, and worsening of their rosacea symptoms.

If that is what you are doing, you are risking long term damage to your skin. Think about it, if the Mirvaso is causing you to rebound and you are masking that with OTC 0.5-1.0% hydrocortisone, you are taking away your ability to see this medication is not right for you and listen to the warnings to stop using it. Nat reports that it took a while for her body to recover and stop flushing badly after her test of brimonidine, the active ingredient in Mirvaso.
Thank you Starlite!! Didn´t want to come `preaching`in this new thread but pls people be careful with cortisone cream. Every dermatologist I saw so far has warned against it and its documented in piles of literature on rosacea: steroid creams are Russian Roulette for your face, I learned the hard way. Not sure what wjs´s agenda is but cortisone cream is really a risky business for rosaceans.

It's not preaching when you are trying to prevent disinformation from causing others harm. Thank YOU for sharing your experiences.

This will be my last post here. You guys are really way too hostile.
Best of luck to all of you.
There was no "hostile" intent, however, at this point with the possibility of less then a weeks use how could you have now found, "that OTC 2% diphenhydramine (Benedryl) cream applied 4-6 hours after Mirvaso works as well as topical 1% hydrocortisone?" Your recommendations have all been, from this thread and the other, things that could cause others some level of harm. To be fair Benedryl, an antihistamine, would only be helpful if one was having an allergic response to the Mirvaso and in and of it's self is harmless, but why not find out what the Mirvaso does for you UN-masked at first?

What is sounding very wise from those of you sharing your experiences is deciding to use the smallest effective dose for yourself. Brilliant.

No doubt wjs will not see this but, I would like to point out that the long term use of antihistamines, especially the old fashioned types like diphenhydramine, is unwise and it can in itself produce skin reactions akin to allergic dermatitis on long term use on sensitive or damaged skin.

Topical antihistamines, like topical corticosteroids, should be reserved for occasional use only.

I don't apologise if this post seems hostile. All I am trying to do is prevent anyone doing something they may regret later - and regret for a long time.

I was unaware of that John. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

You think a tube of Mirvaso (if you use Mirvaso daily with enough product for deleted all redness and be pale) can last how long ? Change of tube every month ? Because 50€ every month for a normal skin, ouch ..
I'm using such a minimal amount that I think my tube of Mirvaso could last 3+ months. $50 every few months is no big deal for me.

How much are you using, and when you don't wear it, does the redness start to come back in weird patterns? aand is the redness exagerrated at first when it starts coming back, adn then calms down after a couple days? That's what has happened with me..
I'm using about 1 to 1.5 pea-sized amounts on the center of my face - cheeks and nose. I've used it every morning since Friday, so I havent taken a day off of it. Late in the day the medication seems to wear off a bit, but there are no weird patterns of redness. When I wake up in the morning, my Rosacea looks mostly like it has for 11 years, except the fact that I already mentioned - my nose looks a bit more white than usual. I havent had anything resembling a rebound yet.

For those of you suffering the effects of rebound, I would recommend you try using the absolute minimum possible amount that you can.

regretting my mirvosa trial big time

I'm 9 days since my last Mirvosa application, and I am still feeling the bad effects from use. I used a very small amount for three days, on my nose mostly, spreading it out to my cheeks, but the rebound is affecting my whole face, including my chin, which never flushes. I'm starting to believe that the rebound is over, and that this is going to be a permanent deterioration of my condition due to the inflammation I experienced after I stopped use.

While my rosacea was never in total remission, it has been stable for the last couple of years. I'm not sure how I am going to get through this setback, as I cannot tolerate laser and have tried most all medications.

To be honest, I am surprised that this stuff got approved by the FDA with the potential to do this to this degree.

                Be careful.

                    I'm really sorry for you..

You are in the rare percentage of people who have big problems with mirvaso, I guess you have a very sensitive skin to react like that. :/

                    Guy with KPRF, come on..

since 9/29 i have been using less than a half pea sized amount (total) for my cheeks, noise, and chin- daily. So I wore it for 3 days straight, applying every morning. One morning, I did start to see a weird patch of red coming in on my nose, but applying the regular amount made it disappear. It worked amazingly for 3 days, I absolutely loved it. After applying it for 3 days straight, I wanted to take a few days off just to make sure my baseline isn't worse than when I started. So far, it has been 28 hours since I last applied it (yesterday morning), and although the redness is coming back, I am not experiencing "rebound" or flushing, in my opinion. I will keep my fingers crossed though, because before (when I was using the recommended amount), my skin was verrry unpredictable for the few days after using it. I'm really hoping that just using a muuuch smaller amount, as I have been, will do the trick for me. I am thinking that for most people, using the recommended amount is going to be much to powerful. I will keep everyone posted.

It has now been 32 hours since I applied Mirvaso, and I am finally experiencing rebound redness on one cheek. It is the same thing that happened last time (when I used the recommended amount of Mirvaso), though for the past 3 days I have been using much less than recommended. I could not feel the redness coming at all, I just looked in the mirror and suddenly one part of my cheek was very red. I am not typically a "flusher", but I believe that is what this is- it comes from out of nowhere, and looks worse than my baseline ever does. I'm anxious to see how long it takes to normalize this time. Not too happy

                                Hello.
So you all mean that Mirvaso isn't for Flushers?
