  • Demodectic or Gut related ? (Pictures) Need help

Hello to all! I am a 25 year old that got diagnosed with rosacea just a month ago while in Vietnam( originally from Croatia) while on a backpacking trip, which im still on (currently in thailand)my symptoms started 6 months ago with a small rough/textured pinkish
patch and broken capillaries on my nose after sun exposure ,I have also developed acne and thought that it was all caused by air pollution in Ho Chi Minh , four months after the first symptoms my nose skin got kind of reddish from a moisterizer for sensitive skin and I got bit paranoid .. itching in my ears and face started around that time as well. I went to two derms who told me it is definately not rosacea and prescribed me with an acne gel . I used it sparingly a couple of times only and stopped .my skin looked aged and porous more and more as time went on which really got me worried .hmm and then one day i went to get a haircut and as it goes in vietnam they not only do the haircut but wash your feet and massage the face as well, the lady did it with some kind of an anti acne cream that caused my first flush . ,since then I have slight but fixated erythema on my cheeks ,nose and forehead .I got three more flushes since then , from aaaa very very high temperature room in a hut where I was residing for a day ,chilli and a sunscreen. I dont really think I have a flushing problem (since I am baring this 35 plus degree celsiusheat here without flushing) as much as a big pore ,aged looking skin with blemishes and a couple of papules ,problem . my pores on my nose and inner cheeks have scales sticking out of them and my forehead has weird water filled bumps that resemble small acne but are definitely not , I noticed my hair falling out and now my eyebrows too . I have no other food sensitivities (that cause flushing) ,rather than spicy food and I kind of hope my rosacea isn't gut related but specificly demodex caused or to put it this way ,that I've damaged my water barrier through oxidative stress from polution and from that caused over excessive sebum production which lead to the demodex infestation and an inflammatory response. The third derm I went to a month ago prescribed azelaic acid as the first line of defense which did nothing .I also tried water fasting for three days and havent seen much improvement when it comes to my rosacea , But it helped a bit with SD looking patches on my eyelids though ,forgot to mention that my eyes are red and I get dandruff on them as well ,which I've been treating with TTO. I would like to start taking metronidazole and ivermectin orraly but im kind of scared of making everything worse if my rosacea is indeed gut related. The derms are useless and I have only this group to turn to ,sorry for such a long post and thanks for reading.

supplements im using : zinc , lutein , omega 3,6,9 , vitamin A, C and D , I moisturize with coconut oil and wash my face with a teatree oil soap , stopped drinking alcohol two months ago , do not eat bread , and avoiding fried foods and a lot of carbohydrates .never smoked (weed only but was never a heavy consumer) ive been traveling for the last four years and had all sorts of diet changes , but i wouldnt say i ever had an unhealthy diet , except maybe overdoing it with spicy food here in southeast asia . i dont have digestion problems but i did have diarrhea a month back most likely from the stress of realizing that I actually have Rosacea

Started with a two week oral ivermectin(12 mg once a week ) + metronidazole(250 mg three times a day ) treatment to kill the bastards ,using a sulphur and teatree oil soap to add to the attack

My skin was very similar to yours in my early rosacea days. The small red bumps on your cheeks are classic rosacea papules.

It sounds as though you are getting the active inflammation under control with oral antibiotics which I think is a good first step. In addition, my two small pieces of advice would be (1) find a good sunscreen of at least SPF30+ that you skin agrees with and wear it everyday - this can help with the redness and papules; and (2) be aware of the connection between your diet and your skin and eat sensibly.

                    Good luck!

About 2.5 years now. I would say that I've got it largely under control, but it is by no means in 'remission' and I have to be very vigilant. For instance, three weeks ago my skin was really good - clear and minimal redness - but I've had an old friend from overseas staying with me the last two weeks and have been eating poorly, drinking and out of my routine and three or four P&Ps have come up on my nose.

I'm always on the lookout for improvements in my routine and skin. One symptom that I have never been able to adequately tackle is the increased sebum production and enlarged pores that comes along with the rosacea inflammation. My current project / experiment is looking into Chinese herbal medicine, from which I have had some interesting results. I'm about to be treated by my first Chinese herbalist with a speciality in rosacea, so I am pretty excited to see if I can get some results.

Im very glad to hear that ,hope the chinese medicine works out great for you . There's some more invasive/risky ways to deal with the pore issue which you probably know of (laser, low dose of roaccutane) but I think the natural path is definitely a much wiser option

                              6. May : first day of the treatment ,9 pm took two tablets of ivermectin alongside with metronidazole and 4 hours later noticed mild itching on my body (chest, back)which I haven't felt previously, moisturized with coconut oil , cleansed with sulphur and teatree oil soap as I usually do

                              7. May : woke up with 2 new pustules but nothing too major , the only unusual thing was severe itching all over my body for about 10 minutes around 3 pm and blemishes appearing on my arms and back in the evening

                              8. May(today) no major die off yet , hmm ,am I beeing too unpatient? It's the first time in my life that I actually want to wake up seeing my face looking worse than the day before
