Hello again,
I posted awhile back about by negative experience with Mirvaso. I went to the dermatologist last week for the first time since my Mirvaso trial months ago. I brought my pictures of before/after the rebound to share with my dermatologist. She actually asked if she could take a picture of my photos to share with her reps...apparently she has mentioned this to them and they "did not believe her". I'm glad that the word is getting out at least. Also for those who are having a rebound reaction, it took me about a week to return to normal completely.
I am now scheduled for my first VBeam tomorrow afternoon. She recommended doing a purpuragenic treatment as she believes it to be more effective and therefore I may only need 1 or 2 treatments total. I'm actually really nervous. I had 6 IPLs and saw virtually no results but also had no downtime. I would like to go to my internship the day after treatment but have already let my supervisor know I may not make it in. My dermatologist seems very optimistic about VBeam (she said she thinks my redness will be 80% improved after one) but I don't want to get my hopes up just yet. There's nothing worse than unmet expectations and being disappointed (again). Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Mirvaso
Mirvaso is now available in Sweden. I went to the doctor yesterday and asked him to prescribe Mirvaso for me. He had no idea what that was and after looking at his computer screen and reading about it for a good 10 min he decided that he would not prescribe it to me because after those 10 min he still did not know what it was. So I guess I will just have to go rob a farmacy but with my luck they will probably be out of stock. Or mabey I should just rob the farmacy delivery truck. That is how the professionals do it right ? If there are more swedes on this fourm you are free to join me.

I have my appointment on Monday, dreading it as my doctors are quite old fashioned and seemed to think Metrogel is going to help with my subtype 1 rosacea! When you mention your derm is that an NHS or private derm, as I am requesting the script off my local GP, will he be able to do it or do I need to be referred to a derm at a hospital (a bit like Roaccutane)? Thanks again
Let me know how you get on.

I have just received the April 2014 update to the British National Formulary which itemises all medicines prescribable on the NHS in the UK.
The only listed medicines containing brimonidine are for the treatment of glaucoma. There is no mention of any other use for the material and certainly no mention of Mirvaso.
Seems that everyone hoping for quick adoption of Mirvaso in the UK on the NHS may be disappointed.
For information, the drugs prescribable for rosacea are:
Metronidazole (various formulations, topical and oral)
Doxycycline
Oxytetracycline
Tetracycline
Erythromycin
Azelaic acid
Tretinoin
Isotretinoin
Topical corticosteroids (various)!!!!!!!!
Sunscreens and camouflagers
TacrolimusLast edited by johnabetts; 9 April 2014, 09:33 AM.

Hi this is my first post on here, but I've been reading this forum for years. My rosacea is mainly sub type one I suffer from really bad blushing and flushing the usual triggers, being out in the sun too long, indoor central heating, food, alcohol, exercise the list goes on.
I have sufferd from rosacea for about 20 years my gp back then said there was nothing that could be done for the redness so I left it at that, but after researching this forum about 10 years ago came across Ipl laser
I had numerous laser treatments with first the private clinc in Harley street then with dr Patterson and finally with dr crouch, the laser did a good job at reducing the redness for a few years but eventually it starts to creep back.
Fast forward to last year I went to my new doctor but I found her to be a bit clueless on rosacea to be honest all she did was to prescribe antibiotics which did nothing to reduce the redness and burning.
When Mirvaso became available in the uk I decided to give it a go knowing it would be a bit hit and miss because off the dreaded rebound,
I tried it for two days at first it was fantastic but on the third day I had a really flushed face very painfull
It was like really bad sunburn that took about a week to subside so I think I'm one of those many rosacea sufferer's it not suitable for.
I got the Mirvaso privately for £55 from pharmacy2uk in Leeds uk all I did was fill in a qustionaire about your medical history
and few days later the doctor confirms your prescription.
