Your skin is looking great, NK1990! Glad your irritation has gone down. I was just curious....do you get pustules and papules? My skin was a bit reddened and very sensitive like yours, and I found out I had demodex mites! After I eradicated those buggers, my irritation has completely gone away.

Also, I just checked out Earthbound Organics website. There is a company very similar in the States (I actually thought that it as that company when you first mentioned them). It looks like they have a lot of nice products...especially the natural sunscreen.

I wish I could go more natural!! I used to be only natural in my skincare...but then I developed rosacea and my skin couldn't tolerate any of the "natural" products. I believe the essential oils that they used were irritating. My skin would burn and sting from them. I still use coconut oil to remove my sunscreen and then wash with a gentle drugstore cleanser---the first time I have ever used one of those! My skin has healed so much after using Soolantra though...so I'm wondering if it is still as sensitive as before. I believe the demodex mites were creating my sensitivity. So, maybe one day I will try going back to more natural skincare!

        Hey MissM

Thank you for your support! You seem so lovely and caring!

In answer to your question, no i don't get pustules or paules but i think growing up i had acne rosacea but now i just have rosacea.

I came across a blog called The Love Vitamin where she talks of ingredients that irritate the skin and threw everything out. I've switched my skincare to natural and my make up to as natural as i can too but cannot live without my Armani foundation so still use that.

I havent heard of Soolantra but will google it. I too think i have demodex mites and hope they go away soon if i carry on with the celery juice or start eating clean as i really believe there must be a link from my gut to my skin, as they say your stomache is your second brain!

I enjoy honey masks and have started eating more papaya as research says it really helps with inflammation etc i've heard if you eat the actual papaya seeds too its most beneficial but they are so spicy!

Do you have any other tips or tricks? I read on this forum that yoghurt masks/kefir helps too.

Have you tried tea tree oil? does that help kill mites?

I also now only use organic bamboo muslin cloth to remove makeup whilst washing and in the shower from Aurelia Skincare they are so gentle on my skin!

          Hi NK!

So, I have only used natural skincare my entire life (until now). I am familiar with the Love Vitamin...I love her blog!! I am unsure why I ended up with a demodex infestation...I eat extremely clean...I am 100% whole food, plant based (high in vegetables, green juices, fruits, whole grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, avocados, fermented foods, etc.) for 15 years now...little to no processed foods, dairy or animal products. I'm forty years old and I'm fit, healthy and rarely get sick. I have experimented with my diet some this past year, but no dietary changes (low histamine, low carb, etc.) helped my skin sensitivity or flushing. I honestly don't believe my rosacea is diet related. Now that I have eradicated the mites, my skin is MUCH better (almost back to normal) and I am still eating the same diet I have been for the last 15 years. I can even add in some spicy food and dark chocolate without ill repercussions.

I think I've always had sensitive skin, and I've used only natural cleansers and oils to moisturize...but a year and a half ago, something switched and my skin became very sensitive, starting breaking out in tiny pustules and I was flushing a lot. Maybe stress induced?? Anyway, at this point in time I took the Love Vitamin's advice and decided to do the "Caveman Regiman" (not washing my face at all or with a bit of water only) to try to calm my skin, but I believe now that that decision was a big mistake for me. Demodex like to feed off of old skin cells and oils, and if one doesn't properly wash his/her face, then there is more nourishment available for these critters to proliferate. They multiplied, grew, and I had mites coming out of every pore...a condition called pityriasis folliculorum.

You can check out my post on it here if you are interested:

Anyway, after a few weeks of Soolantra, the infestation was gone. My skin has been less red, I only flush to extreme temperatures now and my skin is not irritated or sensitive at all anymore. I have found a skincare routine that works nicely for my skin...during the day, I use a natural zinc based sunscreen cream and then I dust a mineral powder sunscreen over it (Colorscience spf 30). In the evening, I take the sunscreen off with coconut oil and then use Vanicream gentle cleanser to remove excess oil and thoroughly cleanse my skin, then I apply Soolantra.

I have never tried Tea Tree Oil on my face...for me, I believe it would be a nightmare because it's so strong. Soolantra is a prescription, and no not natural by any means, but my skin tolerates it well and it has been a true blessing for me.

This is probably more information than you wanted, but I hope it helps!

          M.

Wow thanks for the information Miss M, really helpful!

Do you think i can get Soolantra in the UK on prescription? My docs only tell me to use metrogel and it hasnt worked nor has light therapy.

I love coconut oil its in most of the products i use which is good. Also when i was 15 i burnt my skin really badly under the sun on holiday as i wanted a tan and didnt wear sunscreen on my face, i had to go to the hospital (i know stupid idea) and i still feel im dealing with the repercussions of that now on my cheeks!

Do you think it could also be because we have low collagen in our skin compared to others? just a thought. It gets me really low and sad because my entire family, all my sisters brothers mum dad etc have got amazing clear skin and me as the last child ended up with rosacea and my sisters can so easily leave the house without any makeup but i cant nail that effortless natural look

              Hi NK!

I too believe that my rosacea could be due to accumulated sun damage. I never wore sunscreen in the past (I thought the chemicals in sunscreen were worst for me than getting sun...ugh! I wish I could go back in time). I was a competitive swimmer, life guard and generally spent a lot of time outdoors. The places on my face where I have "broken caps" and have the most flushing, is where I have been burnt badly. . When I first started having rosacea flares (redness and pustules), it would come after being exposed to heat/sun. I don't know the reasoning for rosacea...it's different for everyone I think. I know it can be genetic, but like you, my family doesn't have this affliction either.

I don't know if you can get Soolantra as a prescription in the UK...but, it's worth trying! There are several members on here that have used ZZ cream (ordered from China---demodex solutions is the website) to help eradicate the mites. I believe that cream is just as effective. Here is a member who used ZZ cream and his experience: https://rosaceagroup.org/The_Rosacea...rate!-(w-pics)

For me, I went with Soolantra because I have such sensitive skin. Although the ingredients in ZZ cream are more "natural", I felt that I might not be able to tolerate them.

              Have a happy friday!
              M.

Thank you for the link, you are so helpful! I will check it out, hopefully it will get rid of the last stubborn areas on my cheek, about a dime size left from where i too had the most sun damage.

Have a great weekend and thank you again

I have suffered from Rosacea for 15 years now and have tried absolutely everything to heal it. I have tried expensive creams from brands like La Mer to cheaper alternatives that claimed to be for sensitive skin like La Roche Posay/Avene and Dermalex. None of these brands did anything for my skin and i was slowly getting depressed as nothing seemed to make my rosacea any better. I have also tried LED therapy which didnt work and have tried nearly all natural home remedy masks too.

I read a website this girl had made in which she posted about ingredients of skincare and make up that contain harmful chemicals and cause skin irritation. I cant list the website yet as i am a new member and the system does not let me but, i was so fed up one day after reading her website that i went through ALL of my make up and skincare including bath products and literally THREW everything out that had harmful chemicals in it. I started using a brand called Earthbound Organics in the UK which has NO chemicals in it and my skin is looking so much better finally! I have been using it for one month now and my redness has died down so much that i actually cried when i saw my skin this morning (happy tears of course)

Also i have to add that i have discovered a doctor who has published books and has radio seminars in the US called Dr Anthony Williams also knows as Medical Medium. He is absolutely amazing!! He tells you what to exactly eat for rosacea and since following his diet tips my skin has greatly improved. He suggests to start the day on 16oz celery juice and i have seena tremendous difference in my skin! All redness i had around my body has completely cleared up thanks to his book Life Changing Foods. He describes the link between the gut and skin diseases really well.

I will share photos of my skin before and after for those interested, but i really wanted to share with you all two things that finally has gotten rid of most of my rosacea as i have been reading these forums since i was 12yrs old!
Hi, NK1990! are there other tips from Medical Medium? Apart from celery juice. Tell us the most important, please!

Anyone ever tried Chlorella to beat rosacea symptoms?

This person had success in detoxifying their system of heavy metals.

I'm recovering from Mirvaso-induced skin damage. Ask me about it if you are too.

T-Shirt: "Laser skin treatment. That's what it is if you're wondering. Yes, it hurt."

Wow this is so encouraging to hear! I also do the medical medium protocol and I have noticed a tremendous improvement in my skin since doing the celery juice cleanse! I've been on it for three months now and overall I feel so much better. I'm also eczema free for the first time in my life!! It's so exciting to hear of someone else seeing results! I totally believe that organic ingredients are better and I will check out the makeup line. Recently it's been coming out that some trusted makeup companies in the US are putting steroids in their products, there have even been lawsuits! Anthony also mentions taking MSM supplements. The first few times I took them I had huge die off reactions. Now when I take them I don't react at all. I feel that they helped killed the mites from the inside and helped speed up the process. Thank you so much for sharing and I couldn't be happier for you!

Thank you! Yeah, I read some of the blog posts but I dont know what to do: celery juice, cucumber juice, heavy metal detox (I think this is not for me, I have Hashimotos and I am afraid of eating sea weed), apart from the plant based diet...

Which protocols are you following? If you dont mind telling me! Nice to hear that it is working for you!

That is great! Which cleanses are you doing apart from the celery one? And what things do you think help the most? Plant based diet (no animal products?), Celery juice, heavy metal detox, lemon juice, supplements...
And do you have only subtype 2 with pimples and redness but no flushing?

                                Tecumseh

                                Rosacea has been a nightmare
A life long and exhausting battle,
My life has been difficult to manage and very depressing,I have avoided the world as much as I can.I always heard comments about my red face or how red it was getting,I tried ignoring my condition and avoided people as much as I could.
Easily embarrassed as a child and never ever seemed to be able to stop the flushing ,
as I grew older I knew I had to stay away from the world,it has led to serious depression..I smoked weed for 2 yrs thinking in my mind it gave me more confidence when I looked into a mirror I could not see the redness as if it was gone,I had a picture taken of me and boy was I red faced.
Alcohol, really makes it come out too.
I have become a loner in life and can't stand the isolation.
I have read many horror stories of this disease or condition ,whatever the real name it is a terrible devastating social illness.
I only wanted to look normal skinned.
Life has been quite miserable dealing with Rosacea.
