  • Carnivore Diet

I just posted this on reddit's seb derm forum, that I just found out about today.

Anyways, i'd like to recommend the carnivore diet.

In just under 2 weeks, it's all but eliminated my decade long ibs. On top of that, i've had major improvements in skin, energy, mouth health (geographic tongue, etc.), depression, body composition and sleep quality.

In the past here I recommended the ketogenic diet and by all means it help better than any other eating approach (vegan, standard healthy, paleo, etc.). It was close but no cigar, I feel the carnivore diet is the way to go, ESPECIALLY for immune compromised folk who have long term skin conditions.

Some people i'd recommend checking out

    Shawn Baker
    Kelly Hogan
    Mikhaila Peterson (Jordan Peterson's daughter)
    Amber O'Hearn

Reddit has a zerocarb forum that can be helpful as well.

Try it for 30 days, just meat, fat (butter), salt and water.

    Best of luck.

Could you elaborate on this diet? And you have tried this for two weeks? Are you afraid that this is temporary, or certain the effects will last?

Do you not eat any fiber, and if so, how do you think this is going to affect you in the long run?

(Just trying to get your opinion here)

It makes sense that this would improve your rosacea. Carbohydrate (sugar) is the fire that burns the rosacea. Reduce the fuel and the fire goes out.

As to the long term, modifying this diet with some green veggies like broccoli, asparagus, spinach, cauliflower, peppers, green leafy vegetables and other fiber rich veggies along with the high protein that the carnivore diet proposes will keep the rosacea under control and keep you healthy. Protein and fat are essential to life. Carbohydrate is not. Carbohydrate is God's gift of sweetness which should be balanced accordingly and only eaten on rare occasions if you are a rosacean (or for that matter, if you want a healthy diet). Sugar/Carbohydrate is a rosacea trigger.

Plants don't want to be eaten. They have toxins, anti-nutrients etc. to combat being eaten. Our digestive system is more akin to dogs than apes or other herbivores. The vegan diet was brutal on my ibs. I tried for 6 months to adjust and get beneficial good bacteria to help digest all the beans, greens etc. but it never worked.

I don't worry about fiber. I used to pass tons of indigestible plant fiber (veggies, quinoa, etc) in the toilet bowl everyday. Not really into 4-5 bm's a day and on the carnivore I average 1 proper movement per day.

Brady, what you're suggesting with veggies is basically what I did in the past a basic ketogenic diet. It is a great diet, i'm just taking it one step further by avoiding plants which has benefited me. Thing is you'll never know unless you eliminate them to see.

The carnivore diet is a ketogenic diet with a focus on zero carbs, high fat, and high to adequate protein. Basically, eat fatty fresh meat, salt and water. Eat as much as you want, I personally add butter to coffee for more calories and just cause I like coffee. Hunger is basically non-existent on this diet, it's not an issue at all.

Go to meatheals.com and check out the testimonial stories on 'skin' improvements. People see improvements in digestion big time, body composition and many auto-immune issues.

The names i provided in the OP all have interviews on youtube.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

^ This man all but eliminated decades long psoriasis issues with this diet.

I believe if you have decades long skin problems, you probably have issues with plant material. The best evidence is to trial the diet and see for yourself, if you give it an honest effort and don't like it no harm done.

In the future, I may attempt to add in minimal levels of fruit and veggies seasonally. I will do it very slowly however and one item at a time to monitor my response. I'll do the same for high fat dairy, (butter seems to be ok) cream, cheese, high fat low carb greek yogurt, etc.

Fruit never used to be so high in sugar. They are sugar bombs now. In the past they used to be smaller and have more seeds. The fruit plants want you to eat them because you'd end up passing the seeds which sprout new plants so they are intended for human consumption. The problem is fruit on the store shelves are franken-fruits and eaten in excess. Nowadays we just pass the seeds in the toilet bowl. Also, there is an argument that fruit was available seasonally to help fatten you up before the harsh winter.

The nutrition from plant material is not as bio-available as the nutrition from flesh foods.

I'm definitely advocating towards a healthy balance between meat and vegetables. It's not that safe to eradicate completely something that has been in our diets for thousands of years. We all need a decent amount of everything. Animal fat and protein is also included. I have also seen a lot of people suggesting that we should move to eating synthetic meat which I think will become the number 1 cause of cancer in the future. I just want t o refer people to medical centers that can give them an exact plan of how to be healthy. You can find out here how doctors do that for you in a safe way.

I would have to say I would totally disagree. If anything it is the opposite. A plant based diet is so much more healthy. A plant based diet can reverse heart disease, diabetes etc. I am talking about a whole foods plant diet...not a vegan diet, where you can eat processed foods.

I do think if your health is okay then a little meat, fish or eggs can be fine in moderation...but no way you should make it the only thing you eat. SO BAD for you.

Read the china study, how not to die, check out forks over knives website.

When you say vegeterian, that could still mean a very poor unhealthy diet. Please give an example of what you ate. Plant based whole foods diet is very different from typical vegeterian diet....

You can be eat pasta, bread, processed vegan foods and yea a vegeterian, but that is not healthy.

A whole food plant diet is different from typical vegan diet. An example would be:

Oatmeal with mashed banana (oatmeal cooked w water) and cashews
Salad with loads of fresh raw veggies and potato plus kidney beans
                    Banana
                    apple
                    blackberries bowl with almonds
brown rice with tofu, avocado, shreaded carrots and baked aubergine plus steamed brocoli
                    lemon water

The above is a whole foods plant based diet with no or minimal processed foods

I've seen some research on the carnivorous diet. People who adhered to such a system suffered from liver, stomach, and lung problems.
