CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser
I am 44 years old. i have had eczema all my life. when i was in my twentys, i was told i had rosacea. i have used many many products on the market. the most recent things i have used are:acid mantle skin restorer, ph blancer. clindamycin phosphate lotion for my rosacea, and eucerin pore purifying foaming wash. Eucerin discontinued this product. I did not know what i was going to do. Even though my skin on my face did not look like it did when i was in my twentys, I managed with these products and my skin looked just ok. When i found out eucerin would not be making what i was using to wash my face, by the way thats the first step in nice skin, I had to look for something else. I read an article in the cleveland Plain Dealer under people pharmacy. Joe and Teresa Graedon ansewered a question that someone had about finding a cleanser that is not greasy and would not be to drying. They mentioned CeraVe Hydrating Clesnser. I tried it and i hope coria labs never stop making it! In three days, my face looks like it did so long ago. I am in love with my skin on my face! I knew from the first night i used it. It was not greasy, it washed off very quick, no residule, no redness, no drying, no itching! I love it!!!!!! I have not had to use my acid mantle or clindamycin for the last three days! love it love it please please please do not stop making CeraVe hydrating cleanser. carol brooklyn ohio.

thought they were all the same
My own success using CeraVe cleanser on my dry itchy sensitive skin (Removing my make-up and also as a shaving cleanser-no more red bumpy rash!) convinced me it may be the missing link to help my girlfriend (late 30's) with her frequent red rosacea flare up. She had tried a million different washes and prescriptions and at the time was using Purpose and a steroid from time to time. I convinced her there was nothing to lose, and I have never seen her look better! It has been over 3 months and I haven't seen her redness return.

Soothing
I have not noticed that it has helped with redness but neither has it hurt. The great thing about it is that it is very soothing to my face. In fact, when my face is burning due to a flare, I've been known to wash with CeraVe just to get the soothing effect.
I have not tried the CeraVe moisturizer because I was trying to use up something else I already have, but I plan to buy it next.

Really Works
This relatively unknown brand of cleanser has proven to be the best for my skin. I have moderate Rosacea-mainly the redness, bumps, pimples, and at times even cysts. I'm 47, I have tried literally every product out there and this is my pick. It is completely non-irritating, doesn't dry my skin, and simply works to clean without the greasy feeling of Cetaphil. I'm a label reader and does anyone know that Cetaphil has Sodium Lauryl Sulphate in it? That is an irritant and is drying to the skin. Cera Ve does not have SLS in it and I think more readers of this site should try it. I purchased it at Osco, but you can find it elsewhere or go to www.CeraVe.com where they give you great information on the cleanser and moisturizer.

Very Gentle
This cleanser has no SLS's (Sodium Lauryl Sulphates)and is perfect for rosacea, sensitive, hyper-reactive, dry, eczema prone skin. No fragrence, or irritating indgredients, it cleanses well and won't break you out or dry out your skin. I am so sensitive to cleansing agents that I can not even use shampoos on my scalp, so I use CeraVe from head to toe!! It is truely a gentle and effective cleanser, I would recommend this for mothers for their babies, and anyone with severe sensitive skin issues.

Great Cleanser
This cleanser was recommended by a dermatologist and I've been using it for 6-7 months. I'm very satistfied. It's soothing, yet cleans makeup off thoroughly if you work it gently into your skin for 30 seconds or so. I have ocular rosacea so I first use an olive oil-based cleanser for taking off eye makeup, then follow with the CeraVe. Rite Aid drugstores carry it.

Good but doesn't remove makeup
this stuff seems ok but doesn't remove my makeup at all. I have to wash twice and use a wash cloth (which isn't the best if you are rosacea prone). I'll continue looking...

PARABENS IS AN INGREDIENT!!
Cera Ve has parabens in it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wake up!! they are cancer causing agents that go directly into your skin, just google methylparabens or parabens and read about the dangers.

Good for Oily Skin w/ Rosacea
I have very oily skin. I hated making the switch to a gentle cleanser when I was diagnosed with rosacea (slight flushing, broken blood vessels, pustules). I tried them all and hated how greasy they made my skin feel. But CeraVe is much much better. Very gentle and rinses away very cleanly. It cleans the oil off my skin in an acceptable way. In summer I sometimes need to wash and rinse twice but that is ok. I still have oily skin, but no face wash will change this. Using Cerave with metrogel and finacea has made a big difference for me and put a stop to the pustules/papules. I still flush and am a little red but that is much easier to cover than the horrible bumps.

Finally found it!
I have rosacea and seb/dermatitis. I finally found a cleanser that soothes my face and cleans it as well. My dermatologist recommended the CeraVe line of products. It's available at Walgreens. I'll never use anything else again.

Stings my face
I bought this cleanser because of the positive reviews and I had been unable to find one that did not sting when I applied it to my face. I really had high hopes for CeraVe but unfortunately it literally feels like bees stinging my face and leaves (temporary) welts. The cleansers that have worked best for me, even though they weren't totally sting free are Pond's Cucumber Cold Cream or Cetaphil.

Greate cleanser
I started using this product a year ago along with the lotion. I had really bad rosacea the last two summers. It has not appeared this summer since I have been washing my face with cerave every morning and every night and being sure that I wear a gentle sunscreen so that my face doesn't burn. I will continue to use cerave. It has also helped clear up some pimples.

Love it!
Have mild rocacea with acne prone skin ( with the use of products). The cleanser immediately calmed the red and so far so good in regards to the breakouts. Removed make-up just fine. Do NOT like the parabins but it is a face wash not a lotion so the amount absorbed into your skin is not worth concern according to my dermatologist. Besides it has been in women's facial products for years and has not proven to cause cancer in humans only rats/mice. Hope this helps someone.

Pleasantly surprised
I had to get used to the fact that just b/c a cleanser doesn't foam up, doesn't mean it's not cleaning all the impurities off your skin! After long talks with my derm AND plastic surgeon(no facial work..I was there for a mole) they both recommended CeraVe. It's gentle, I can use it all over my eyes to remove my makeup without ONE OUNCE of burning. The only trouble I have is during Dec through March.During that time, I use the CeraVe at night with my moisturizer and then a "heavier" cleanser in the morning(which is actually a tissue off type.it's more like a cream. it's clinique medical probiotic cleanser.) It gives more of a barrier against the wind and chill during the winter months during the day. HOpe this helps!

Never switching products again
Like many other rosacea sufferers I've tried many products ever since I was diagnosed with it (only about a year ago and I'm 26). I tried Cetaphil, Aveeno Calm Foam Wash, purpose, etc but all of them lead to some problem whether it was over drying to making my face burn like crazy when applying it. I recently moved and forgot to bring my bottle of CeraVe and thought oh well I will just get something for now at the local drugstore, big mistake! I tried Olay sensitive skin and it gave me a horrible flare up! Finally found a local store that carries CeraVe and I'm so happy to be using it again. In 2 days it's already helping repair the damage from the other face wash. I also have slight acne so this face wash is amazing with the use of Differin Gel which can be very drying. I love this stuff and it lasts a long time not to mention in the long run is less expensive than other products. I highly recommend it if you have problems with SLS, and have super sensitive skin on top of the rosacea skin sensitivity!

Works For Me
I’m fifty-four years old and have been an avid surfer for most of my life. Needless to say, the sun has taken a toll on my skin and my rosacea only complicates matters. For the last few years I’ve pretty much used only water to wash my face. Having tried almost everything, I’d pretty much given up on the search for a soap that wouldn’t aggravate my condition. My dermatologist was of little help. It seemed that anything I put on my face just turned it red. In fact my face was red most of the time.
Then one day I came across this website and read the reviews. I started using the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser, followed by the Zhongzhou Medical Ointment. I then used the CeraVe moisturizer to prevent my skin from drying out.
Well it’s been about six weeks now and I can’t believe the results. No more blemishes, itching or scaling, and the redness is all but completely gone. I’m so glad I came across this website, and I want to thank everyone who took the time to write these reviews.

WOW! That was FAST!
Thank you so much to the creator(s) of this site and to the people who have taken the time to review this product. I literally found out about 3 days ago that the embarrassing redness I've been experiencing for as long as I can remember is rosacea. I went to a spa for a facial and it was there that the esthetician "diagnosed" me with this condition. She used products on my face that were specific for rosacea and I swear I noticed a difference when I walked out of there (so did the friend who went with me). I casually glanced at the products on their shelves and was horrified to see a price of $53.95 for a VERY small bottle of product. In order to get cleanser AND moisturizer, it would've easily cost over $100. I have no idea how long they would've lasted, but it couldn't be for too long. Yesterday, I did a search on "cleansers for rosacea" and found this site with all of the reviews for various products. Based on the high ratings, I went straight to CeraVe and did an online search for it in local stores. After work I stopped at a nearby Walgreens and bought the cleanser as well as the AM and PM moisterizers. I washed my face and applied the PM moisterizer last night. Before even looking in the mirror this morning, I felt my cheeks and could swear the bumps had diminished. The mirror revealed that not only had I been right about the bumps, but the redness was now more like pinkness. I am THRILLED! I even asked the friend who was with me at the spa what she thought and she agreed that I looked much less red today than I normally did. YAY! Although I am happy with today's results, I am eager to see if prolonged usage actually continues to reduce the red(now pink)ness.
Thank you again to the creator(s) of this site and to fellow happy users for posting your reviews for me to find - and to the the manufactures of CeraVe!! You guys are the best! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Great for warmer months
LOVE this product during spring, summer and part of fall, as it's cost effective, gentle, non irritating. My rosacea is very "moody" and the combination of CeraVe followed by my prescription of Finacea, followed by my moisturizer works perfect. I am currently struggling during the winter months. When the temp drops below 50degrees F,the CeraVe is not hydrating enough. I'm currently trying Dermalogica Ultracalm line, but that's not working (i gave it a month)So i

Rosacea Subtypes
Subtype 1: Erythematotelangiectatic rosacea
characterized by flushing and persistent redness, and may also include visible blood vessels.
Subtype 2: Papulopustular rosacea
characterized by persistent redness with transient bumps and pimples.
Subtype 3: Phymatous rosacea
characterized by skin thickening, often resulting in an enlargement of the nose from excess tissue.
Subtype 4: Ocular rosacea
characterized by ocular manifestations such as dry eye, tearing and burning, swollen eyelids,
recurrent styes and potential vision loss from corneal damage.
Rosacea Stages
Pre-Rosacea
the first cardinal sign of rosacea: blood vessels dilate to more stimuli, open wider and stay open for longer periods of time compared to normal
persons. No visible damage can normally be seen.
Mild Rosacea
begins when the facial redness induced by flushing persists for an abnormal length of time - usually 1/2 an hour or more after a trigger. Those who
have frequent pre-rosacea flushing are highly susceptible to progressing to mild rosacea. Some of the common triggers for a facial flush are heat,
cold, emotions, exercise, topical irritants and allergic reactions.
Moderate Rosacea
as facial flushing becomes more frequent and intense, vascular damage occurs. This can result in long lasting redness, swelling and inflammatory
papules and pustules. Telangiectasia (damaged micro blood vessels, often visible on the surface of the skin) may be noticed in the areas where
flushing is worst.
Severe Rosacaea
characterised by intense bouts of facial flushing, severe inflammation, facial pain, swelling and burning sensations. Sufferers may develop
intolerance to products they were able to use before. Also inflammatory papules, pustules and nodules may be present. Some experience a bulbous
enlargement of the nose, known as rhinophyma. This is just a guide, you may of course experience symptoms outside these ranges.
