Aveeno Ultra-Calming Foaming Cleanser

Calming
I have mild rosacea and have found this product to be, as it says, calming. It is not irritating and actually seems to have somewhat lessened the redness I see in my face with consistent use.

No difference
This cleanser did get my makeup off and my face felt clean. But I did not see any difference with my rosacea. It seems drying to me too.

Good product
I've used this product in combination with the daytime and nighttime moisturizer in the line. All the products in conjunction have been overall calming and have reduced visible redness.

Not So Calming
I think this entire line is not a good idea for those suffering from moderate to severe rosacea. This cleanser left my face tight, tingling, and overly dry. Maybe would be ok for someone with very oily skin, but if you're sry at all, this is terrible.

What I think about this prod.
I have used the product in combination with the daytime and nighttime cream and lotion. It works great, doesn't leave skin oily or dry.The name says it's calming and it really is.It also helps with blotchiness.I recommend it no matter how mild or severe you have roseacea, but you HAVE to use it in combination w/ the daytime lotion (which absorbs quick, moisturizes great, and isn't oily),and the nite time cream (it's great for dry skin and you feel immediate relief to the dryness). It also helped me with the acne that roseacea causes, but results may be different .I believe it is worth my buck.

Great Cleanser
I really like this - at first I was worried that it wasn't strong enough to remove makeup (some of the 'calming' or 'gentle' products don't remove mascara or cream blush well), but this does, without leaving my face dry.

Only one I'll use
I've had fairly mild rosacea for about 20 years now and I found the best thing to do for my rosacea was never wash my face. However, that's perhaps not best for cleanliness. I use this cleanser every other day and it has not irritated my rosacea yet. That alone is a huge plus. I also use a bit of the moisturizer (same line) after washing and that seems to smooth out the roughness nicely. So far, no reactions.

Burned
I couldn't tolerate this product. It took me a couple of days to recover from the stinging, burning flush it brought on.

the best I have tried
I have tried a lot of cleansers. My skin is sensitive and prone to dryness and the Cetaphil cleaners were too harsh and drying for me. This Aveeno have been a real life saver. This is the only cleaner that doesn't leave me with flaking skin between my eyebrows. It doesn't diminish my rosacea, but it doesn't make it worse either, like other have.

no bad reaction
With my rosacea when I use any cleaner on my skin things look good at the time, but I know that within a few hours my skin will react badly with lots of p&p and red inflamation. This foaming cleaner doesn't cause that reaction. My skin still has flakiness but this doesnt make it any worse and there is no bad reaction afterwards. It doesn't decrease the redness but again doesnt make it any worse. Only not washing my face at all would give me the equivalent.... any other product (even just water) will cause reactions. So this one is a keeper!

winter=good; summer=bad
I found that this cleanser has more heavy emollients in it thus cause an overall oiliness on my face when i use it in the summer. it works much better in the winter when the elements, both inside and out, are having a larger drying effect on my skin. Regardless of what season, I found that my skin always felt a little taut and dry directly after use, prior to moisturizing

I really like this product
Aveeno is a life saver! My face is finally not red when I get out of the shower. No problems with make-up or mascara being left behind. Thanks!

good product
I've had rosacea- subtype 1 for about 6 years. For a long time this was the best cleanser for me, as it wasn't overly drying and cleansed well. I did not notice the promised decrease in redness but was still pleased with the gentleness of the cleansing. Recently my skin has become much more sensitive and this one now causes stinging and itching. So I am now in search of something new. I hope I can find something that I liked as much as this product.

Rosacea Subtypes
Subtype 1: Erythematotelangiectatic rosacea
characterized by flushing and persistent redness, and may also include visible blood vessels.
Subtype 2: Papulopustular rosacea
characterized by persistent redness with transient bumps and pimples.
Subtype 3: Phymatous rosacea
characterized by skin thickening, often resulting in an enlargement of the nose from excess tissue.
Subtype 4: Ocular rosacea
characterized by ocular manifestations such as dry eye, tearing and burning, swollen eyelids, recurrent styes and potential vision loss from corneal damage.

Rosacea Stages
Pre-Rosacea
the first cardinal sign of rosacea: blood vessels dilate to more stimuli, open wider and stay open for longer periods of time compared to normal persons. No visible damage can normally be seen.
Mild Rosacea
begins when the facial redness induced by flushing persists for an abnormal length of time - usually 1/2 an hour or more after a trigger. Those who have frequent pre-rosacea flushing are highly susceptible to progressing to mild rosacea. Some of the common triggers for a facial flush are heat, cold, emotions, exercise, topical irritants and allergic reactions.
Moderate Rosacea
as facial flushing becomes more frequent and intense, vascular damage occurs. This can result in long lasting redness, swelling and inflammatory papules and pustules. Telangiectasia (damaged micro blood vessels, often visible on the surface of the skin) may be noticed in the areas where flushing is worst.
Severe Rosacaea
characterised by intense bouts of facial flushing, severe inflammation, facial pain, swelling and burning sensations. Sufferers may develop intolerance to products they were able to use before. Also inflammatory papules, pustules and nodules may be present. Some experience a bulbous enlargement of the nose, known as rhinophyma. This is just a guide, you may of course experience symptoms outside these ranges.
