New member-old diagnosis
I joined a few days ago. Let me tell you a bit about my diagnosis before I ask several questions. I have had my diagnosis for probably 5-6 years minimum. My 1st derm dr. who was older did a huge serious of skin testing, thinking I was allergic to something, but he could nothing of significance. My normal symptoms are redness, flushing, with occasional bumps when things get bad. When things are bad, my face feels like it has been dipped in acid. Anyway, I continued to suffer with on-off symptoms for a couple of more years, trying any sort of super sensitive skin cleansers/moisturizers with very little success. The first derm dr. retired. I had another serious flare-up, did some further research on the net, found the info about rosacea, & had one of those "light bulb moments", I had found an answer. I made an appointment with the derm dr. who had take over the practice, he took one look at me, & said, "Yes, you have rosacea".
Over the years, I have tried both Klaron & Metrogel with a fair amount of success at controlling symptoms. I have never been put on any oral medication. I always quite using both topicals as even though they worked fairly well, my face felt like all of the moisture was being sucked out of it. I moved to my 3rd derm dr. a couple of years ago as I had a major falling out with derm dr. #2 when I had a serious flare-up after a facial from his in-house aesthetician that he recommended doing. The aesthetician was used to dealing with patients with rosacea, so I don't what happened. Nothing the dr. tried worked, & as a stop gap measure to try to give me a little relief the aesthetician suggested using olive oil simply as a moisturizer until the dr. could find something that would work. The dr. response was to keep using the olive oil, end of that story.
Derm dr. #3 has had me using Klaron periodically, but after my most recent flare-up, he has put me on both 1% Metrogel & Klaron. I'm concerned that the combination is going to be way to harsh for my skin, so have been only using the Metrogel. I have also switched to Cetaphil cleanser & moisturizer, My skin is slowly improving, not as burny/stinging, but the skin is still pretty red.
I'm interested to hear others comments about the latest treatment regimen from derm dr. #3.
Thanks,
Debbie
