Hi Worry,
I notice you've only taken Accutane two months, do you need to stop early because of side effects or ? Topical Vitamin A, and especially prescription retinoids, are much stronger on the face as a topical for Rosacea than taking Accutane. Granted Accutane is strong, but in low doses the side effects are usually mild. Anyway, if you need to stop Accutane and your Derm. thinks your skin can handle a mild retinoid it's possible it can work for you. I would ask for the MILDEST (lowest concentration) prescription retinoid and get samples first. These are Ziana, Differin, and Atralin. There may be a few others but these are common ones for sensitive skin. I've tried them all and like Ziana the best - it's 1.2% clindamycin with .025% retinoid in a glycerin hydrating gel. If used a few nights a week (which I do) and always skipping a night or two inbetween, it can help keep the pores and skin clearer. I have fewer breakouts. I did try Differin and it seemed to make my breakouts worse/more. Atralin was a little too strong .05%(though still a little hydrating). The Retin A or Retin A-Micro are often too strong for our skins - the have higher % retinoid and I don't think there are any "hydrators" in the formulation to prevent over-drying and redness. They can make the face red/dry/peely really quick! Another alternative is you can try an over the counter retinoid product (less harsh) like Neutrogena Healthy Skin. Some have used that here and say it works good. I personally haven't tried. Lastly, when using any type of retinoid use very gentle skin care, cleansers and moisterisers, as not to overdry your face. SPF during the day.
Good luck and talk to you soon.
