Which Alcoholic Drinks Are Worst?
Hello everyone,
It is well known that alcohol is one of the worst triggers for rosacea. Unfortunately having rosacea means most of us lack confidence and I, for one, enjoy going out on a saturday night and getting semi drunk, not only to improve my confiedence, but also generally to just have a good time.
As I have said in a previous post I have been on a rosacea diet for the past month or so and have not touched a drop of alcohol, or meat or dairy products and i have noticed an improvement in redness. However, I am desperate to go out and enjoy a few drinks, even if it is only once a week on a sat nite.
What i would like to know is...if having a semi-drinking binge once a week would ruin teh rest of the weeks rosacea diet, and if so how long will the negative effects last for.
Also, what alcoholic drinks are worst and which are best for rosacea. I know red wine is worst but are there any drinks that you can have in excess and they wont cause too much damage???
I would be grateful for any advice
Thanks

I like to go out once a week myself. I can drink rum and vodka. Rum is the best. I can drink that all night.
I can also drink some white wine. I stay away from drinks with alot of sugar.
Beer, champagne, and red wine are the worst for me.

everyones different. i quit drinking for four months and still had rosacea breakouts... drank again..beer, vodka and red wine mostly and sometimes other stuff... absolutely no effect on me. i'm lucky since i don't breakout from it because i enjoy a drink sometimes...but still unlucky to have rosacea.
there's only one alchol drink that will break me out... sparks beer and tilt (?) it's those energy beer drinks... much like redbull including in taste. i have to be careful how many i drink.
keep in mind... a lot of beers and some wines are not vegan! some wines are cooked and put through the junk yard before bottled... but you can find vegan uncooked wine for pretty cheap too.
hey.... it may possiably be why some are triggered on certain types of alcohol???? they junk they put in some of the alcohol??? ...brand differenbt than other brands....i don't know. i drink vegan a lot and non vegan at times..still no consiquences for rosacea.
here's a list of SoME vegan beers and wine if you're interested in checking it out. http://www.veganconnection.com/veganbeer.htm

Alcoholic drinks are dangerous to health, its better to avoid drinking or drink only once in a week that too one or two glasses. I think mixed drinks are worst one especially sugar in mixed drinks.

Since2000-
Alcohol is a common trigger but not the worst. If memory serves, sun ranks as the first in most polls and for many people, alcohol isn't a trigger at all. I don't just like my beer, if it could cook, I would marry it. For me, it's not a trigger at all and if anything, often makes me "paler".
That said, don't beat yourself up. Rosaceans spend enough time worrying about every facet of life, i.e. sun, stress, diet, supplements, heat, etc. You have to live sometime so if going out on a bender makes you happy, who am I or anyone else to say no?
Julie-
You are mistaken. To write, "Alcoholic drinks are dangerous to health..." is an opinion not substantiated by fact. If you personally have trouble keeping it to moderate drinking, then it's a personal problem for you. That's like saying gambling is dangerous to your health because you didn't pay your bookie so he broke your thumbs.
In point of fact, all studies have shown that people that are moderate drinkers have lower mortatlity rates than people that abstain completely- not to mention the numerous positive benefits of consuming red wine. I suggest you read this page of information which provides an excellent summary.

These are what don't make me red:
vodka with soda (this one makes me very pale while I drink)
decent beer
white or red wine
But, I do feel hung over and/or tired the next day and that tends to make me more pinkish. Anyhow, it's worth it. Life shouldn't come to a grinding halt due to rosacea.

Generally speaking, I would agree with th previous replies to your answer fellow rosacea affected. However, if if you want to get rid of rosacea, it depends on th efollowing factors, not just alcoholics:
-What tirggers, natural like heat to cold effect (especially in the winter season). You should never expose your skin to extreme temperatures and this includes changing from one temperature to the other to fast, your blood vessel swallow easily and trigger rosacea easily.
-Secondly you may have rosacea because someone in your family, mother or father has bias to eat.
Other factors are then food and drinks. Best for rosacea is neural ph balance like pure water with a ph of around 7. Acids like in soda, beer, spirits, wine or coffee with a below 7 ph should be avoided as much as possible. Alkalines on the other side, i.e. magnesium should be consumed more. The rule of thumb 70 % alkaline,20-30% acidic. this way you can keep the balance and still be healthy.
Of course their additional info you may need to take responsible actions for your rosacea, in you want a flawless skin. A great info ressource is the following blog.http://rosaceatreatmentpro.com/
Have a great week,
Joni

I don't have confirmed rosacea but I find alcohol doesn't make my face redder (or make my acne worse). But I rarely have more than 2 or 3 drinks a week anyway.

Worst and Best Alcohol

Alcohol is usually on EVERY rosacea trigger list because not only may it induce a rosacea flare but more importantly it may induce flushing.
You may find that drinking any of the distilled spirits, such as scotch, whiskey, rum, vodka, etc., may be better than wine or bear possibly due to the higher sugar content in wine and beer. The distilled spirits seems to be tolerated better. But moderation is the key. Too much of any alcohol isn't good for rosacea. My favorite is a jigger of single malt Scotch, but if I drink too much it induces a flush and I get red all over. Just keep a handle on it.
And absolutely no sugar added to the distilled spirits. Drink it straight up, nothing added.
