I have
I have tried this stuff recently and really like it.
It works possibly for Rosacea and Seb Derm in several ways:
1. Anti-inflammatory: Both active ingredients Sulfacetamide (an antibiotic) and Sulphur are anti-inflammatory agents.
2. Antibacterial: There was a study a year or two ago that linked Rosacea to a bacteria that Demodex mites leave behind when they die called p. olenerus (sp?). In any event the thought was that higher demodex populations on the skin or an unnatural reaction to normal ones caused inflammation during the life cycle of the mite where they die and new ones hatch. Both Sulphur and Sulfacetamide have antibacterial action that is effective against this bacteria.
3. Antifungal (for seb derm): Sulphur is thought to have anitfungal properties and has been used as an antifungal for many, many years. It reacts with our skin to prevent fungii from bonding to it in some fashion. Seb derm of course is thought to be caused/aggravated by the m. globosa fungii.
4. Keratolytic activity: Sulphur reacts with our skin to normalize skin cell turnover rates, this helps both Rosacea and Seb Derm which throw this out of whack and this causes inflammation.
5. Demodex?: There is some evidence that sulphur directly kills demodex mites but it is sparse and not reliable. Still it is possible.
In short, both mediations attack some key Rosacea/Seb Derm aggravators. What I like about Clarifoam is I find the base really non-irritating, unlike most topicals I have tried. Everyone is different though and as always you should test patch topicals, especially one with sulfacetamide as some peopl are very allergic to it.
Glad it is helping you.
