    Default upper eye lid veins

Over the last year I have developed a network of purple and red veins over both eyelids. It looks like I have on purple eye makeup from a distance. Up close it just looks like s*%t. Can anything be done to remove these?
    take care,

    Default eyelids

    Hi John,
I had IPL on my eyelids and it seemed to make it worse. But more recently, I've had vbeam Perfecta (the latest version of vbeam), and it has actually improved the redness and flushing of my eyelids. Hope that helps you.
    Best regards,
    Meg

IPL or Vbeam on the eyelids?
That is a scary thought seeing how thin the skin is there.

a litttle, but not really. if you want to do the whole eyelid, then you have to use eye sheilds, which are uncomfortable inserts.

ouch ...that makes sense now - thanks

Would hate to see someone go to a spa IPL
and ask them to zap their eyelids w/o some sort of eye protection.

    Thanks Meg..

The vbeam got rid of the veins on the side of my nose. IPL didn't do anything for them. Those veins did, however, come back a few months later. Maybe, I'll have better results on the lids. I only read one study pertaining to eye lid veins and that study used the YAG to successfully get rid of lid veins. I'll have to ask around and see if any Dr around here has experience treating lid veins with the vbeam.

What do the lid shields feel like? Were your eyelids bruised after treatment?

    Hi John,
I've had my eyelids done both with and without the eyeshields. I would only let a very experienced derm do my eyelids without the shields. In that case, you look away from light. The eyeshields are very uncomfortable, but temporary - like solid contacts. I have small eyes so it was extra uncomfortable to me, but an average person would find them more comfortable.

I can't say I've had post treatment bruising, but I definitely have swelling - how could one not swell with such a sensitive area. It's not too bad. Better than burning hot eyelids to me!

    Meg,
Curious, but what doctors did you use? Stateside or elsewhere?

    Hi Rob,
All stateside. I've been to Dr. Patrick Bitter, Sr., Dr. Roy Grekin at UCSF and Dr. Kathleen Welsh. I currently see Dr. Welsh for vbeam Perfecta treatments.

Using eyesheilds is pretty common. One just needs to ask their drs about them when getting IPL or laser.

    Meg,
Thanks very much. Very interesting, but I don't know how common it is. Most docs aound here think that if they come within a centimeter of your eye socket they will burn your eye out. We all know what can make you go blind and it isn't the laser.
Reminds of the movi A Christmas Story (I think it was) and the Red Rider BB Gun- "You'll shoot your eye out."
But, thanks again for the info.
